Join MT as she shares with us how and why her songs have taken a quantum leap out of the hymnals and into the midst of the world in which we live. She will tell us about some of her new friends - Janis Ian, Melba Moore, The Limeliters - and others, as she plays some tracks from this recording, the first of a five-volume set of her songs being produced by The Sacred Folk Song Project under the direction of Dan Paulos and the Saint Bernadette Institute of Sacred Art in Albuquerque, NM.   Read more/ Register

seminary receives $700,000 from lilly endowment for congregational studies project

Hartford Seminary is pleased to announce that it has received a $700,000 grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to enlarge the conversation of engaged scholars studying congregations and to develop a website that disseminates resources for and insights from congregational studies.Read more


In Memory

Seminary community mourns the death of mary coleman

The Hartford Seminary community is saddened at the passing of Mary E. Coleman, a Ph.D. student and administrator of the International Ph.D. Program at the Seminary. Mary, who taught courses in American religious history, also was Assistant Editor for the journal Reviews in Religion and Theology. Mary died peacefully on November 24, surrounded by her family, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain, CT. On November 28, a special chapel service was held in her memory at the Seminary. President Heidi Hadsell, in informing the community, said of Mary, “I know we will miss her bright spirit among us.”  Professor Yahya Michot spoke of Mary at her memorial service and provided these photos as a remembrance, which he took during a 2011 trip to Turkey.
